Planning photoshoots—or capturing the perfect image on a whim—has become one of my favorite milestones in the magazine process. Not just because the pages instantly feel more polished and complete (it’s always a joyful goodbye to those beige placeholder blocks that have sat empty for months), but because it’s another way to tell the same story.

The words come alive in a new way when typeset beside the emotion that seeps through the colors, textures, and composition of a photograph.
